Cheap or Expensive Laptop?
I was looking into buying a laptop, at first I was going to spend around 00.00 on a Dell Studio 15 or 17(If theres a better laptop for this price say so) Then I had to think that with new technology coming out so fast is it really worth it to spend all that money? Should I just buy a 0-0 laptop instead? I really would only be using it for surfing the web and stuff like that. No hardcore gaming. If you guys think i should buy a cheaper laptop any suggestions?

Hi Goalie
If you are looking for a high end laptop I would go with an Alienware, otherwise a 17" HP with a dual-CPU, 4G ram, sata drive, dvd burner, webcam . . it’s a great bang-for-the-buck at around $800-$900.
I personally go through at least a laptop a year in my biz and have only had to replace my HP units when I screwed up (left it in the rain, dropped it, etc). They used to have a lot of dead pixels on the display a year or so ago (I use it 10+ hours a day) but they seem to have kicked in a better quality LCD since.
Something like this is a decent laptop and on sale for $650

.
i would wait untill a good exspensive 1 goes on sale so u get a good 1 4 a good price!
spend about 1,100 on a Microsoft laptop; they are the best.
$700-800 one
It sounds like you answered your own question.
If you can get what you need from an $800 laptop, then spending the extra $400 on something better is just throwing money away.
Buy the expensiver one. If u buy the cheaper one and it breaks u need to buy a new one. 700 or 800 doubled is more than 1200 once. More money usually equals better quality, less breakage, etc.
get the very best one.
you only live once.
i say spend 700$ and in 2 years or 3 get a new one.
trust me.. you’ll love saying the extra dollars on something else or saving in todays economy
i say go with HP… dell is a little overrated.
Get a Mac so you don’t have to replace it in a year and a half.
Go for the cheaper if you will only be usung it for recreational purposes.
buy a cheap its just for surfing, take care of it and it will last at least 5 years
wooaahh thats a pretty big budget i would spring for the best of the best buddy.
get a mac
they jsut came out with a new one and its about that asking price.
all aluminum high quality graphics
buttt they are a bit different and may take a little gettign used to.
the program they have for internet is really nice its called safari..
and the nice thing about them is they are WAY less prone to viruses and the have a very long life. also….they almost never ever freeze, and if anything happens they have autosave for all your work.
good luck and happy spending
I wouldn’t spend over $1000.. I think you are correct in thinking that technology is changing so fast that a more expensive one would be a waste… however, if you’re just using it for entertainment (nothing too extreme) you should be able to expect it to last for quite awhile.. so I wouldn’t be too concerned.. The models out now aleady have everything you need and will ever need.. The only reason to replace it when better models come out would be to be trendy.. which it doesn’t seem like would be a huge issue
There is no point in getting an expensive laptop for something simple like surfing the web. I would suggest focusing on battery life over other specs because that is the biggest thing that will affect your surfing capabilities on the go. However, you can get a laptop like the one in my source link that’s probably heaps better than most Dell laptops.
If you will be using it for surfing the web then buy the cheap one. HP/DELL/LENOVA all are good.
You might be able to get them even cheaper at ebay, my experience has been very positive there.
good luck.
i cost $1000 for it. so i think it is expensive laptop. my friend.
Go for a HP and you wont be sorry
For simple usage & with tight budget, of course $700-800 make sense.
But if you intend to use it for longer period & allow more flexibility of usage subsequently, spend a little more is worth it!
Um, spend 100 more (1,300$) and buy the new MacBook. Or save 200 and get the old MacBook =]
