I am well aware of FRY’s and Bestbuy and other commercial stores but I am looking for more of a mom and pop shops that sales ram and other parts. I also tried Goodwill while most times have parts it does not have any 184 pin DDR RAM of 1gb or more.
I recently purchased a used computer that had been wiped clean by a reburbishing shop on ebay. The copy of Windows XP in it is not the original COA. Now it wants to install all the missing updates; about 20 plus SP3 I’m nervous it will find something invalid. What will happen? Thanks
UNIVAC is one of the earliest commercial computers and was easily the most famous computer of the 1950s. This film, produced between 1950 and 1952, shows how the UNIVAC computer was used in business, defense and by the census. The film shows several of the important portions of the UNIVAC system at work, including the high-speed printer, the UNISERVO tape drive, the UNITYPER, card readers and the mercury delay line tanks that served as main memory. The programming process is fully discussed and a business problem is demonstrated. These films served a promotional film as well as a way to demystify computers to the average person.
My lap top is broken and I want to buy a new one. I’m considering buying a used one because it’s much cheaper. I will not finance a new computer or put it on a credit card. Is this a really bad idea? Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I’m planning to buy a new laptop pretty soon. Just wondering, is it possible to purchase a laptop without windows attached? Would that be cheaper? Since I use linux as my primary OS and I my university offers free and legal windows vista business edition to all students. Getting another copy of windows is completely pointless.
additional question. is it possible to purchase a custom built laptop? Since I still haven’t found any pre-built laptops that match my specifications.
If possible, please let me know where can I get one. I live in Waterloo, so I’m willing to go as far as Toronto for it.
